Tim O'Connor's Blog from Day 4 of the Midwest Skate Tour

Detroit, Michigan. Old Motor City herself was next up on the agenda for the Quiksilver entourage to roll through aboard the almighty RV. Lemme' give another font shout out to Modaddy for being one of the illest peoples around and driving that gargantuan rig all over the continent down some of the most outrageous highways and downtown city streets. The next demo was actually just outside of Detroit in Royal Oak, Michigan at Modern Skatepark. We did much of the same at this demo with Dickie on the spatulas slingin' barbequed goods all over the place but mostly down kids throats. I punched one of the most epic tasting chili dogs or two down my mouth piece and was feelin' nice. The actual park wasn't completely done yet but the people from Moderne had erected a temporary set up that wasn't bad at all. I ended up breaking my board about one minute into the session while warming up....it may have been due to the big ass chili dog that I sucked down prior to skating. Alex was killing it and grinding up and across the rail they had there from flat. Some of the local kids were layin' it down as well and landing some viciously hard tricks over the fattie to flatty area. As always Justin Brock was tossing out some award winners while Danny Garcia was skating nice and saucy while showing the kids no mercy during games of SKATE on the sidelines. Jake was doing his thing as well and showing the local peeps why he's earned a coveted spot on the Quiksilver team and Alien Workshop team. Judging from the giant pile of wood that was set all around the rest of the warehouse...it looks like Modern is going to have one of the illest parks around. Much thanks to everyone that came out and hopefully we make it out there again soon when the park is completely done so we get to skate the gems that were soon to be built up. --Tim O'Connor
