Eddie Swell Update and Healey Interview with Shane Dorian

Following a super quiet Christmas of surf on the North Shore of Oahu, the jet stream of winter storm action finally looks to be taking a southward dip this week. This promises a return to at least average winter surf heights -- wave face heights of around 15- to 20 feet -- for the start of the New Year, with the promise of more as we move further into January. The first taste of swell is forecast for a New Year's eve arrival: a borderline high surf episode out of the west-north-west that will see wave face heights broach 15 to 20 feet, but still falling well shy of Eddie-style extra-large to giant category waves, when wave face heights approach 30 to 40 feet. New Year's Day will signal one month since the commencement of the Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau holding period. While invitees to the event enjoyed solid warm-up surf of 15 feet on the day of the opening ceremony, there have been almost no other significant swells since that day. Here's to a New Year of big surf! Aloha. Healey Weekly Waimea Update - Interview with Shane Dorian
