Quiksilver at Pac Sun's Summer Solstice Beach BallyHoo

Last weekend, June 19th and 20th, we set up shop at the Pac Sun Ballyhoo Summer Solstice event in Santa Monica, CA. The event is a two day festival that was located just north of the Santa Monica pier in a parking lot just off the beach. All of the top brands that are carried by Pac Sun were in attendance. As usual, Quiksilver stole the show. On the first day of the festival we ran our new patent pending skate ball game. It is basically skeeball with skateboard wheels. The scoring holes are cut out of old Quiksilver skate team rider skateboards.  The game was hand built by Quiksilver marketing, and you should look for this game at most of the Quiksilver events this summer. The ramp was built to look like a skateboard ramp with Masonite and all. Kids were lined up all the way to the main stage waiting for a chance to win hats and tee shirts. There were the usual losers for sure but a bunch lucky ones walked home with the best tees and hats in the biz. The day was hot and everything was running smoothly.  But no, we didn't stop there. We had Tony Hawk skate with his crew at 4:50 pm on his portable vert ramp. Really random time but the crowd was going off as Tony pulled a 720 and hand full of his other signature tricks. Like always, Tony was a stand out. Other stand outs were Kevin Stabb and Jesse Fritsch. The next day we decided to change it up a bit even though the weather stayed the same. Sunny and hot for day two of the event. We brought in the Super Shot arcade basketball game. The one where the backboard moves forward and back. Players had the chance to win Cypher Boardshorts. I'm talking Diamond Dobby folks. There was a bunch of stoked people that won a pair of boardies for themselves or for their fathers for Fathers Day. The day ended with the head liner of the show B.O.B. All in all the event was more then a success. We hope Pac Sun does the event next year as it was a good weekend full of games and great music. Check out the video below for an idea of how the Pac Sun Summer Solstice Beach BallyHoo went down.
