Kelly Slater in 2nd place ASP World Title Rankings

The 5th stage of the ASP World Tour came to a close last Saturday night in Tahiti, with victory for Hawaii's former three-time World Champion, Andy Irons. Meanwhile, after a hiccup in South Africa, Kelly Slater got right back on track for the 2010 World Championship to clinch 3rd place at the Billabong Pro Tahiti. The Floridian is now just 250 points behind the current leader in the world rankings, South Africa's Jordy Smith, ranking Kelly at 2nd for the World Title. His hopes of an incredible 10th world title are still burning bright as ever and it's looking good for him going into one of his favorite WCT events at Trestles, California. Accolades for the day's other big exploit go to Quiksilver’s Jérémy Florès. Having made a solid start to the season, the Frenchman was in blistering form in Tahiti. His excellent 3rd place was one of the finest results of his career; a WQS World Champion in 2006 and Rookie of the Year in 2007 The next stage of the ASP World Tour will take place in Trestles, California from September 12th- 18th and will be followed by the QUIKSILVER PRO France, from September 25th to October 5th 2010. Come down to Trestles to cheer on the Quiksilver team! Current ASP World Title Rankings: 1st- Jordy Smith 2nd: Kelly Slater 3rd: Taj Burrow 4th: Dane Reynolds
