Quiksilver Europe Wins The French Prix AMO Award

QUIKSILVER EUROPEAN CAMPUS WINS THE FRENCH PRIX AMO AWARD FOR WORKPLACE, ARCHITECTURE & ENVIRONMENT This Spring, Quiksilver received the prestigious French Prix Amo Award, presented to architect Patrick Arotcharen for the design and construction of the Quiksilver Campus in St. Jean-de-Luz, France. The Prix Amo rewards both the architect and company management for working together to create structures that inspire employee motivation and symbolize the best working buildings in France. The award also pays tribute to the architect’s vision in creating architectural and environmental qualities, eco-construction and a significant role in sustainable development. “The Quiksilver Campus is a great representation of our strong commitment to preserving the world’s playgrounds and we are honored that this partnership was recognized with the Prix Amo Award.” says Bob McKnight, CEO of Quiksilver. “We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Patrick Arotcharen, and he did an outstanding job of interpreting of our company mission to create a sustainable workplace.” Situated between mountains and ocean, the Quiksilver Campus illustrates a commitment to eco-construction and sustainable development, while meeting high environmental quality standards and symbolizing the union of architecture and nature. Thechallenge for Patrick Arotcharen was to imagine a building which reflected Quiksilver’s dynamic lifestyle and bring together all the brands—Quiksilver, Roxy, DC and Libtech, Gnu—under a single roof, without loosing their identity or distinctiveness. “Patrick has created a natural environment, a place that is just like us, the reflection of our lifestyle,” says Pierre Agnes, President of Quiksilver Europe. “These buildings are a brilliant tool that will accompany Quiksilver in its growthover the years and we are delighted that the Campus is honored of this new distinction.” Cabin offices constructed with Douglas pine, sourced from sustainable-managed and replanted European forest. The cabins have been designed to blend into the nearby forest, which has been fully restored on the hillside with 600 replanted trees and an orchard of old variety fruits. Optimized energy management with a low CO2 footprint when in use, large open windows open to nature, and work areas submerged in natural sunlight with movable solar protective devices. Integrated photographic and music recording studios, a graphic arts center, multi-media center and full-service product design and development center.
