The Champ Kelly Slater Gets The Key To The City In HB

Tonight was a truly a chicken skin experience for any and all of Slater's fans that attended the event, or at least it was for myself! The night kicked off with the Originators playing some sick tunes leading up to the ceremony. As the tunes turned down the crowd amped up. This is the first ever key to the city ceremony I have ever attended. Let me tell you that this event was something I will never forget. I would bet that the other thousands of people on hand and numerous media crews on hand will never forget it either. As Kelly entered the stage to receive the key to the city of Huntington Beach from HB mayor Joe Carchio, the crowd went nuts. Kelly was introduced by surfing legend PT. PT gave an epic speech about Kelly's unbelievable career in surfing. When the best surfer in the world comes to town, so do the biggest stars in surfing. On the stage with Kelly and the mayor of HB was, Bob McKnight, Lisa Anderson, and Peter Townend (MC for the event). Also on the stage was Ron Abdel co-owner of Jack's Surfboards. As soon as Kelly took the mic and the key the whole crowd was standing and chanting like nothing I have ever heard. I thought I was at a Lakers final winning game. Kelly gave a very heart filled speech about his relationship with HB and surfing. Not only did he speak, he signed at least a several hundred autographs for all the frothing fans. After the ceremonies there was a private party for Kelly, his family, and friends at the Shorebreak Hotel. The party was off the chain with great food, adult beverages, and music from Kevin. Kelly was the last person at the party which is a true testament to the true legend that he is. Quisilver Marketing - Blake Choate
