NBVC Surf Contest at Point Mugu, August 20-21, 2011

Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu Surf Contest Presented by Quiksilver is taking place this weekend and will be open to the public. FREE admission and parking, live music, food and fun! Military surfers along with Professional Civilians including John Mel, Adam Virs and Tyler Newton will compete to support the Liberty/Single Sailor programs for Ventura's local troops! The NBVC PM Surf Contest is an exciting opportunity for the surfing community to access one of the best waves Southern California has to offer, and for NBVC to showcase their award winning stewardship of the environmentally sensitive beach and wetlands inside their gates. With a fading south swell in the water and some south-west swell filling in the forecast is calling for chest high with occasional shoulder high sets that’ll light up Point Mugu making for some very contestable surf. And be prepared for some amazing maneuvers to go down when 4X World Champ Stephanie Gilmore and Craig Anderson surf in Sunday's Expression Session.
