In 2017, Austen joined fellow Quik team riders, Travis Rice and Bryan Fox, in Depth Perception, where his high-speed pillow line descent (in addition to all of his other clips) immediately became required viewing. Since then, his fun-loving approach to making turns has shined in videos including High Octane, Rooster Tail, and Boardslide Worldwide. Last winter, he stepped into the contest realm at the Jackson Hole stop of the Natural Selection Tour, further showcasing his outsized abilities and limitless finesse. To put it simply, Austen is a burst of energy distilled into smooth style, a wholly uncommon sensibility that he brings to everything he does, whether snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, or playing the guitar. In short, in every single way, Austen rips.
Fast. Cool. Quirky. Stylish. Fun. Crazy. Creative. Bold. There are a ton of different ways to describe Austen Sweetin. And now, a Quiksilver team rider is one of them.
We’re proud to announce the signing of the Seattle native. At 25-years-old, Austen has already made a huge impact after being named one of Snowboarder Mag's top 10 riders and nailing the final section in Absinthe Films’ “After Forever”. He’s got a reputation as one of the world’s best all-terrain riders, which means and he rips at pretty much everything that can be ripped — street, park, back country, skating, surfing, guitar...life in general.
We’re proud to sign him. But more than proud, we’re stoked to see what he does next. Welcome to The Mountain & The Wave Austen!
Travis Rice:
“He is definitely one my favourite snowboarders to watch right now. That Miller flip over Craig’s Cross in After Forever? C’mon. Welcome to The Mountain and The Wave Austen.”Bryan Fox:
“Austen is an extremely talented human being, but please don't let that take away from the fact that I was his coach for six days when he was 11 years old. I may or may not have taught him everything he knows....haha. Honestly though, he lives and breathes boardriding and is a perfect example of what Quiksilver is about: traveling the world and experiencing cultures with a board under your arm. Welcome to the team my friend.”
Todd Richards:
“I haven’t seen someone able to read terrain like he does in a long time…actually, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone able to read terrain like he does. The kid is a freak! Great to have him on Team Quik.”Mikey Wright:
“I love hanging out with the snow guys, so I'm super stoked to have another snowboarder on Quiksilver. And especially Austen. He’s such a legend. Easy to travel with, everyone loves him, and he pretty much rips at everything he does. Welcome to the team Austen! I took you to my hometown, when do I get an invite to yours?”
